- Delay of statokinetic development
- Cleft palate (you can see in photos that the lip is not cleft)
Although it is not documented in her records, some of her facial features do resemble Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). It is possible that this is the cause of her delays and cleft palate. There will be no way to know about this for sure before adopting her. We do know that:
- Eileen can sit independently, and walk holding on to something.
- She can play with toys for long periods of time.
- She's really cute!
If you are considering adopting Eileen please take some time to learn about FAS, and the widely varying effects it can have on a child. There will be no way to know for sure whether or not Eileen has FAS until you adopt her, so you must be prepared for that possibility. Here are a couple of links to get you started:
If Eileen is adopted in Kentucky, a few local professionals have volunteered to donate these initial services free of charge to help her if needed:
- Physical mobility services
- Developmental psychology/behavior analysis services
- Pediatric OT services
